Edgar Bronfman, Jr.

Edgar Bronfman, Jr. is CEO and chairman of Warner Music Group, which deals in music publishing, artist services, and recorded music. WMG is the only major music company to be publicly traded, and it is home to some of the industry's most famous labels. Bronfman's WMG operates in fifty countries around the world, through many licensees and affiliates. Bronfman acquired Warner Music Group from Time Warner in 2004, and he headed up the company's IPO on the NYSE.

Under his leadership, the company has become a leader in the digital marketplace; it has become the third biggest music company in the entire world. WMG was named one of Fortune's most admired companies of 2007, and it was named one of Fast Company's most innovative companies of 2009.

Before he joined WMG, Edgar Bronfman was the man behind the inception of the Vivendi entertainment division, encompassing groups such as Universal's film and music divisions. While there, he bought PolyGram, and that purchase created the world's most successful music company. He headed up the rebuilding of Universal's recreation, television and film companies, and in 2000, he sold Universal's assets to Vivendi, becoming Executive Vice Chairman. He served in that capacity until 2001, and served on the board of directors until the end of 2003.

Before Vivendi Universal was founded, Edgar Bronfman Jr. was CEO and president of Seagram Company Ltd; he'd been there since the middle of 1994. During his time there, he finalized $85 billion worth of transactions and built Seagram into one of the best communications companies in the world. He is also a general partner at Accretive LLC, which is a venture capital firm that specializes in business outsourcing. Before he assumed the position he currently holds, he was CEO and chairman of Lexa Partners LLC.

Edgar Bronfman Jr. is also a board member of InterActiveCorp, the chairman of Endeavor Global (a nonprofit), and he serves on the boards of NYU's Medical Center and Collegiate School. He is also on the Council on Foreign Relations. He is married with seven children, and currently lives in New York City.
