Gerald Levin

Gerald LevinGerald Levin, also known as Jerry, was born May 6, 1939 in Pennsylvania to Jewish parents. He graduated from law school in 1963, and today, he is a mass-media mogul with the dubious distinction of being named one of the worst CEOs ever by CNBC. Gerald Levin has been thrice married, and has five children.

Mr. Levin spent most of his early career with Time, Inc. (which later became Time Warner, then AOL Time Warner). He started as an HBO programming executive, and worked there until he became the CEO. Gerald Levin is famous for being the man behind the ill-fated merger between Time Warner and AOL in 2000, at the top of the "dot com bubble". He has gone through trials in his personal life as well; his son Jonathan Levin (a high school English teacher) was killed by one of his students.

Despite his past, Gerald Levin is now a philanthropist as well as a businessman. He is an avid supporter of many Jewish causes, and donates to a variety of other charities. He is both a supporter and a trustee of the Museum of Jewish Heritage, along with other non-profit organizations.
